STATs (Statistical Teaching, Application and Training)

As you may have been aware, the department of statistics has moved to a new building in August, 2004. Facilitated by the new space, we would like to build a stronger statistical community at Columbia, not limited to the statistics and biostatistics departments.

We would like to

Build a network of quantitative researchers;

Establish a database of statistical resources (expertise, consulting services, etc);

Form a group of teachers interested in improving statistical education;

We hope to

Have an annual gathering of our STAT community;

Organize seminars, workshops, lectures on statistical teaching, application and training;

Evoke active communications and collaborations among researchers with projects of quantitative nature;

Provide a better statistical teaching and learning environment.
