How to setup your PC to print to the printers in the Department
Note the
Department provides the printers in
the fax room for full-time
faculty and staff only. Students are expected to use the printer
in the water room. Please find the instructions below for setting
up relevant printers on your computer.
Win/Mac

1. The following shows you where to download the driver. After that
the instruction is for Windows machine. Mac users please see Notes to Mac users for some tips.

click "I AGREE", click your operation system. Then for Windows operation system, choose to download the "PCL 6 Driver". For Mac, just download the available one. Then download the driver.

2. find the file you downloaded, run it, agree to the license, then choose to unzip it to a folder named C:\ricohdriver (or whereever you prefer).
3. when the above unzipping is finished, close that window, then click
Start -> Settings -> Printers. In the new window, click Add Printer.
click Next,
then make sure Local printer is selected, but deselect "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". and then click Next.
click "Create a new port", and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port", click Next, Next, enter 128.59.111.15, and click Next.
In the "Add Printer Wizard" window, click the "Have Disk" button, then
click Browse, navigate to C:\ricohdriver (the folder you unzipped the driver to), then further navigate to disk1\ folder
and click open and ok in two consecutive windows.
Now select "RICOH Pro 907EX PCL 6", and then click Next. click Next to the end to complete the installation.
If if prompts you for username/password. Please go to see Anthony to obtain your username/password.
This Ricoh machine is also a scanner. It can send the scanned document to your email box. The procedure is:
For scanning, place your document on the scanner. At the front touch panel,
press Send, then press Address Book/Server, find out your name and press
it then press OK. Then press the big Start button (not on the touch
panel, but a real button on the touch panel) to start scanning.
The scanned document will become a pdf attachment and emailed to your
email account.

2. run the downloaded executable file, choose to unzip it to a folder, by default it is C:\Dell\Drivers\R178136\ (it will prompt you to create it)
3. when the above unzipping is finished, close those windoww, then click
Start -> Settings -> Printers. In the new window, click Add Printer.
click Next,
then make sure Local printer is selected, but deselect "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". and then click Next.
in the "Select the Printer Port" window, in the list of existing ports choose the one containing the string "128.59.111.14".
Then click Next. If you can't find that ip there, then check "Create a new port" in the bottom, and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port", click Next, Next, enter 128.59.111.14, and click Next.
In the "Add Printer Wizard" window, click the "Have Disk" button, then
click Browse, navigate to C:\Dell\Drivers\R178136\ (the folder you unzipped the driver to), then further navigate to Win2k_x32\PCL\English folder if your are using Windows2000 or Windows XP,
and click ok in two consecutive windows.
Now click Next. click Next to the end to complete the installation.
By default, the printer allows printing double sided. If you usually only want to print single-sided, you can set so, by clicking Start-> Printers, find that Dell Color Laser 3110cn printer's icon, right click, click Properties, and set your preference.
Notes to Mac users
When adding printer, for the Protocol, you should stick to the default "Line Printer Daemon - LPD".
And when asked unidirectional or
bidirectional, just accept the default bidirectional.
Ubuntu users

It appears that the following
procedure can allow one to print from Ubuntu to the Ricoh Pro 907EX
printer:
Click System -> Administration -> Printing,
click Add, expand "Network Printer", click "Find network printer", in
the Host: field, enter 128.59.111.15, click Find, click Forward,
make sure "Select printer from database" is selected, click "Generic",
click Forward,
click "PostScript Printer", click Forward,
type whatever Printer Name you want to assign this printer to, then
click Apply.
