I bought a Kaypro II in 1982 and did my dissertation on it. You could easily have thrown it across the room, then picked up your work where you left off.
+1 for the historical geek humor, but this is a joke about somebody physically abusing their spouse. That sours the joke for me.
As I recall (always dicey), the Kaypro was a favorite of DIY types, the ur-geeks. I also think Radiohead did an album about it — Kaypro Computer, though I could be wrong about that too.
