Good timing

I was at the store today and bought some pants. Everything was 50-75% off, so I bought 4 pairs instead of just two. Then I came home and read this. Cool!

P.S. I’m amused by the level of passion in many of Tyler’s blog commenters. Although, really, who am I to talk, given that I get passionate on the subject of hypothesis tests for contingency tables.

  1. I wish I were in Paris for the sales! I need a new suit. The first (and last) good suit I ever bought was in Paris in the January 1986 sales. The sales guys served champagne and bon bons while the genius tailor fitted me on the spot. It helped that the dollar was historically strong and my stipend was in dollars. Alas, the suit's a wee bit too small in the waist for me now.

  2. The first (and last) good suit I ever bought was for my wedding. (I've worn it a few times since.) We got it at some place out in Brooklyn where they measure you and sell you a custom-fit suit for $X that would cost $2X if it were sold at a store. A good deal, except of course that X >> anything I'd ever spent on an item of clothing, before or since.
