I’m conducting a survey of blog readers as part of my Master’s thesis at Ryerson University. The survey asks readers about why and how they read blogs (and Twitter), and about what tools they use to do so. Its purpose is to provide better context for the design of new tools (i.e. RSS, technorati, etc).

I sent this email to http://datamining.typepad.com/data_mining/, http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/, http://www.basketballgeek.com/, http://charts.jorgecamoes.com/, http://chartporn.org/, http://neoformix.com/, http://waxy.org/, all of which I found via http://flowingdata.com/2009/05/06/37-data-ish-blogs-you-should-know-about/ I’m planning to email flowingdata and a few more blogs listed there, as well as several “mom blogs”, for now.
Knowing what people currently do isn't necessarily the best way to design something better.
