P.S. I fixed the mistake in title of blog entry. Anyway, I still think bananas are easier than pears. Although, it’s true that you have to take care of bananas so they don’t get bruised.

They aren't. Pears are farther to the right along the ease continuum.
No need to wash them?
bananas are not labeled as easier than pears — I think you read the axes wrong…
They aren't.
They aren't. They're labeled as more difficult and less tasty (which I take issue with!)
They aren't, pears are shown as being easier than bananas as well as more tasty.
I sent my comment in before the title of the blogpost changed. It prompted the change.
Don't everybody get too confused. You are statisticians. This one is easy.
Presumably because you can just bite into a pear. I think the distribution stems from a feeling that washing is not to be considered. Otherwise the small "bite sized" fruit would be further to the left due to washing concerns, at least per unit of fruit.
It's my understanding that humans peel bananas from the wrong end. If one peels from the end without the handle-thingie, there are fewer of the stringy thingies that you have to take off & throw away. Please see: http://www.slate.com/id/2067407/ for a discussion of banana peeling.
All I know is that right now I feel like a banana would hit the spot. Thanks!
