This article by Donald Kinder is an interesting review of research on political views as they are inherited and as they develop with age. I also like it because he refers to my sister’s work on the essentialist beliefs of children.

Thanks for this article. In a perfect world, schools would cover politics (not just civics) at an earlier age. I think that one’s parents have a lot of influence on one’s politics, much like religion. Here’s another similar article that talks about income and politics:
