My New Year's resolutions:
1. Finish all ongoing projects.
2. Convey to students at beginning of semester what they need to learn, then teach them the skills so they can do these things.
3. Be a nice person. Remember to say hi a lot and address people by their name.
4. Adjust the limit screws on my front derailleur, also figure out what's making that rattling sound.
5. Spend more time with family.
6. Get back into shape. Also avoid injury.
7. Figure out that business with the survey weighting and poststratification.
8. Figure out a good way to model interactions in multilevel models.
9. Those times that I act like an asshole (but see #3 above!), recognize it as soon as possible and apologize.
10. Keep up to date on all scrapbooks. Also, write down amusing incidents as they happen or I'll forget them.
11. Have lunch with Dave more often.
12. Ummm, that's enough for now.
I remember one New Year's Day my friend Phil made a resolution to always cut his toenails over a receptacle. Quite Mezzanine-era Nicholson-Baker-esque of him. Why such a specific and limited resolution, I asked? Because he'd actually be able to keep it and thus improve his life, he replied.
And of course all of those with New Year's resolutions to be happier or to lose weight should try Seth's methods.
Happy 2006!

Hello! |
Nice list. Survey stuff? This is not exactly what you want, but there will be a tutorial on survey analysis before useR! on 14th June given by Thomas Lumley. He will show how to use his R package survey. Read more about the
survey tutorial and useR! 2006.
